Carnegie Mellon CyLab Japan offering a Master of Science in Information Technology – Information Security (MSIT-IS) is designated as an educational institution offering courses of a foreign graduate school. This was formally announced by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of the Government of Japan.
 By the designation MSIT-IS is formally recognized as a master degree in Japan, which means MSIT-IS degree can be a qualification for admission to doctoral courses of Japanese graduate schools.
