Abstract:
Over the past 20 years, there have been many articles, presentations, and books written about network incident response. At CERT, we have seen many changes in technology on both the attacker and defender side. In this presentation, we will share our perspective on how the area is changing and what we can expect from the next generation of attack, defense, and response technologies over the next 5 years. We will also compare the direction of computer security research to the developing threat to identify some blind spots in the current global research strategy on information security.
Finally, we will describe some of the work we are doing at CERT to address the changing threat for information security.
